1) I recall the brass trim is a couple hundred more per range.
1a) The 24" RNB is a new version of the RPB . That's cool and they'll match front plates now.

2,) Hard to tell. I think the island trim looks better and will allow a larger splayed (windsor) pot on the back burner. It must have granite,tile or stainless behind it, so you're O.K. there. I suppose the 8" keeps boil-overs and splatters from dripping down the wall as much (or into where the island trim vents would be).

Thanks. I called Eurostoves and found out the brass trim includes brass bezels for all the knobs and a brass handle for the oven door. The cost ranges from about $300 to $500 depending on the size of the oven.

Any other experiences with or without the 8" backsplash?

I have a Bluestar rangetop against the wall with the island trim (the 1" backing). I like it a lot b/c it allows a wider flared pot to be used on the back burners. If you go that route, be sure to remember that you need to install a fireproof surface to the wall at least 6" below the cook surface as well as above.
