Your Opinion Of The Best Dishwasher Under $2K For Hard Water.

Hello Everyone,

I am in the market for a long lasting dependable/reliable built in dishwasher . My current appliances are all black . After researching dishwashers online I am seeing most people recommend Miele first and foremost and then Bosch .

I was looking at ABT and there is a huge range in price among Miele models . I need a dishwasher that will clean really well and be very simple. I do not need a fancy 3D cutlery tray or 20 different modes. I do not care for fancy hidden controls or even stainless steel. I will need a water softener as we have hard water.

If I am to look at the G5225BK what is it that I would be missing when compared to the higher end models ?

Do they clean any better ? Are they better built ? In what way is a G5675SCVI superior to a G5225BK ?

What do you recommend ?

The highest end Miele's do not clean better, nor are they better built. They just have extra features, which it sounds from your description aren't very important to you. The differences between those two models are:

-Custom door panel required on G5675
-2 extra cycles on G5675
-3D cutlery tray on G5675
-Control location (G5225 front, G5675 top)
-Auto open drying on G5675 (opens door at end of cycle automatically)

The G5225 is a really nice DW, with all the Miele "essentials": water softener, cutlery tray, China/Crystal cycle. I don't think you would be disappointed with it.

I have owned Miele and installed many during my contracting days, in my opinion, best built dishwashers currently made.

I currently have a mid line Bosch and it probably cleans close to as well as my Miele, and is probably almost as quiet, but is not quite as well made. However, still better made than any "domestic" brand I have encountered. (not including the REALLY old KA stuff, which were built like tanks...sounded like one too tho)

Thank you hvtech42 and tyguy ! I greatly appreciate your respective inputs .

I have gone ahead and ordered a G5225BL as opposed to the G5225BK . Is there any difference between them ? The store I ordered from does not carry a G5225BK .

I will be paying 1045 + TAX . I will be paying for it when I pick it up in a couple weeks. How does that sound? I am purchasing this from a local appliance retailer here in Western NY.
