GE Induction Range/Sears

A couple weeks ago I ordered the GE Induction range. Netbat predicted that it would not be delivered on the promised delivery date. Such a psychic! Delivery has been put off not only once, but twice -- as the "manufacturer hasn't delivered the product" to Sears. Sears offered a different product. My husband declined, and gently pushed back, telling them that we've made arrangements twice for the delivery, and were planning on having the range for Thanksgiving . . . We'll be getting a $100.00 Sears giftcard in the mail. Maybe if they keep delaying, we'll have enough gift cards for a new frig : )

Curious why you chose the GE over the Kenmore?

I liked the burner configuration on the GE a bit better than the Sears version. It sounds like y'all are loving the Sears Slide-In, though . . .

I agree with you on the burner configuration -- why would they put the burners so close together?

The slide-in (Kenmore) configuration is much more user friendly. I can put to large skillets in the front together.

I was gung-ho on the Sears slide in but now am looking a bit toward the Samsung. The only thing is, I've never seen one in person and the largest hob is 11 inches. I have an 11 inch hob now and I rarely use it. The Sears and GE tops are similar and I don't need the GE warming burner. It would be a good landing space though. I don't even NEED a new stove!

stir_fryi - I think you read wrong. rjr prefers config of the GE.

Actually what I meant was the configuration of the Kenmore slide-in is much more user-friendly than that of the Kenmore stand-alone stove. I would not have gotten the slide-in if it had the same burner layout as the free-standing range.

Pinch me -- are you near a hhgregg? They have a Samsung range on the floor at ours.

Well, I really didn't "need" a new range, either. It's just in the 23.5 years of marriage I've always had the range that came with the houses we bought. This house came with a new Sears smooth-top, which I dislike with a passion. I've been talking to the DH about a new range to go with the new kitchen, Sears had the sale and, I guess after living with me for 23 years, he realized that I'm worth it! Or maybe he's just sick and tired of hearing me complain about an inconsistent oven temp, inability to cook rice in anything smaller than a 4 qt sauce pan, and the near impossibility of searing meat without burning it. Probably some of each.

no hhgregg here. Iowa has Deer. Corn. Pigs.
I don't see any hob arrangement as good as the Kenmore slide in at a thousand dollars more than the samsung. But I am my own boss. My money. My decision how to spend it. I expected Sears to have one sooner or later since they have it on their web site. They had the Kenmores and the GE. Patience. NEED PATIENCE! And I NEED IT RIGHT NOW!Could use some money, too.

Pinchme -- would a photo showing the hob arrangement work? I may be running past hhgregg in the next day or so, could snap a photo if I do.
