Is 7 Grains considered hard? Dishwasher recommendations needed.

So I'm back again. I got some hard water test strips that said we have about 7 grains of hardness. It seems to not be hard, or soft.

So I'm out of idea why my Maytag didn't clean. It seemed to do better with Vinegar added to the wash but not always. We'd end up with cloudy classes, with film (Vinegar helped that) and a bit gritty on the dishes.

Anyway it broke after 14 months, roughly and I'm out to replace it with something that would work with well water, 7 grains of hardness.

With that said, do I still need a dishwasher with a water softener built in, in you guys opinion?
