My final appliance decision has boiled down to (no pun intended) a 30" GE Monogram AG range and a 36" Thermador Pro Harmony (4 burners with a griddle). The Thermador promotion (including free hood & discounted dishwasher) makes the cost comparable. I prefer the GE but am wondering if having a griddle will be useful (we do have an electric griddle appliance which we use frequently). I'd like to know if those of you who have a 36" stove prefer it to a 30" (cu. ft. on the oven is about the same).

I think you would be happier with a separate griddle that you can take off and clean it much easier. Get a 30" stove and a Chef King 14x23" carbon steel griddle. You could also do better for less than a GE stove but whatever floats your boat is what you should go with.

Great advice about the griddle, I'll definitely consider it. One reason I like the GE is the oven racks, they're full extension, porcelain coated and on rollers (maybe a weak reason to spend the extra money though).
