I don't think KA has ever acknowledged that there was a problem with those ovens. Their clear, head in the sand, classic risk management playbook solution just rubs me the wrong way. I'd never buy ANYTHING from a co. that conducts itself in that manner.

Coupled with their dwindling quality, and that they don;t have anything to really differentiate themselves from 5 other manuf. makes me question why anyone would want to buy anything.

Well that sucks! I would rather use self-clean that scary chemicals.

Budget limitations. Not everyone can buy a professional range.

I'm hoping I can get this GE range http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadison/JGS750SEFSS.html at the same price as the Kitchenaid Architect convection range, otherwise I'm going to have to buy Kitchenaid. My alternative is a GE without convection, or a Whirlpool Gold, and let me tell you how much I have hated our Whirlpool Gold.

Watch out for this really scary chemical.

I hadn't even considered we were talking ranges here, but my assessment of KA stands.

Their ranges are in the $1000 - $2000 price range depending on features and config.

In the same price range you can get a similarly featured product from : Electrolux, Bosch and GE - all better units with better management. LG is also in that price range with a nice looking product and a company on the rise.
