Get the island trim IT30, you have a nice backsplash. I do not like the stainless piece on the back of the bluestar...too high. This is my taste so do not take personally.

I guess you ordered the center grates? How much?

It shore is purty! I can hardly wait for my cooktop in a few weeks! Let us know how it cooks and what you think of it!
Congrats!

The center grates were $100. I may get the island trim...

Where did you get the center grates? $100 is lower than I have been quoted.

The range looks great (so does the rest)! We are going with the 21" with the shelf for the trim. What kind of hood is that?

 o
RE: New Blue Star

It is a Kobe Hood, about 6 yrs old I don't recall which model #

The grates and stove I purchased from

http://www.selectappliance.com/

They are in San Francisco.

Is that the default "short" trim? Does it always need to be installed? I want to make a stainless backsplash and if the trim also needs to be installed, I'd ask if I can switch my trim for the island one instead (though it's been delivered a while ago, I have not boxed it). Any disadvantages to doing that?

RE: New Blue Star

The trim was easy to install/remove... There is an island trim available as well.

RE: New Blue Star

Only "disadvantages" of Island Trim are that you need 6" clearance to anything combustible, which generally means at least extending your backsplash to 6" below the counter (or something else back there), and the potential of scorching your backsplash instead of the 8" trim. I've heard that scorching the 8" trim is not uncommon; I haven't heard of significant problems with scorching the backsplash (which doesn't mean that it doesn't happen).

You definitely need one of the three trim options. As hpcast points out, they are easy to interchange, requiring a dozen or so screws on the back of the range.

I got the default wall one because my salesman wouldn't have sold me the island one knowing I had a wall. Which is funny because he now is glad to sell me the island for $240 or so, but not to exchange it. :-(

Does the regular trim fit flush against the wall? Would it make sense to only start the backsplash from above it, and if all stainless will it look weird?

RE: New Blue Star

Yes, the island and the short trim both run flush with the back of the range.

Personally, I'd run the backsplash to the countertop, or even below. It is often easier to clean up anything that runs behind off the backsplash material than off the painted wall.
