Wall hood - installation and extended warranty

Posted by bommai (My Page) on

I am getting a GE Monogram stainless steel wall hood. It is the model ZV950SDSS. It is pretty heavy (100 lbs).

The installation instruction is pretty complicated if I were to install it, but this is a new house build and my builder said he can install it along with the duct guy. Should I do that or let GE delivery people install it. The delivery people charge $200 for installation!!!!

I am hoping my builder has done this before.

I can get a 4 year in home warranty for $99. Should I get it for the hood or is that a low maintenance appliance. I have never owned a hood before. I am getting the $99 extended warranty for my induction cooktop, wall oven, etc.

RE: Wall hood - installation and extended warranty

Your builder and HVAC guy should have no trouble mounting a hood. The instructions may look complicated but they all go up pretty much the same way (ahem). Hoods are pretty simple items (a fan) so I wouldn't worry about a warranty beyond the 1yr that comes with it.

YMMV, etc.
