You can, but I would prefer to use a stainless scrubbie, or brass/bronze wool vs steel wool.

And once you're all cleaned up, here's a good way to start over again. I used this method on my Bluestar griddle a year and a half ago. It is wonderfully seasoned, and non stick. Hint, just like with cast iron, never use soap and water once you've seasoned.

Hey cy, a bit off topic, but what's the process like for cleaning the Bluestar griddle. I assume there's a grease trap somewhere to catch the grease. But is it hard to clean? Does the grease get everywhere? How often does it need a good cleaning?

You def seem to use your griddle the most out of the members here and I was just curious as to the cleaning regimen.

What I do is more of a wipe down, than an actual "cleaning" I use a 6' wide stainless drywall knife (one I bought specifically for this;) or a wide flat spatula to scrape and squeegee the grease into a pile and wipe up with a paper towel.
Yes, there is a hole that drops into a pullout tray below, but I really only use that to brush crumbs into with a small basting brush. This eliminates having to wipe the grease up twice. I've never used soap on it, and only occasionally add a little water while still hot to deglaze any cooked on stubborn spots. It is has become as non stick as my 100 year old cast iron cookware, or my well seasoned wok :) Happy cooking! Chris
