Do Best make good range hoods? I have a line on a good deal on a K41. 30", 500 CFM, 8 sones.
Best K41 Hood
They look well made but 8 sones sounds on the loud size.
Does anyone have one of these? Is it a good hood?

I wish sones were sones. Same way I wish CFM were CFM. 500 CFM from a mass-market hood is pretty weak if you are considering doing any serious amount of pan frying, searing, or wok cooking. For me, it would have to be a lot less than $600-800 that a good 30" Kobe would run to consider, given the relatively low claimed CFM, as well as my experience listening to the Best and Kobe hoods in the same showroom (the Best I listened to sounded a lot louder to my uncalibrated ears).

Thanks. My kitchen design calls for a chimney style hood so I am looking at $1,000 for a Kobe. The Best is new with a minor scratch and $650. I will probably hold out and keep looking. Rupert

I just noticed that VentigDirect.com has a 'KOBE!)" coupon code up for 10% off Kobe products. At least that could help a bit. (I have not ordered from VD.)
