I would just go the old school route and buy myself some plastic cube makers and make my own. You know the minute you put a couple of hundred dollars into it something else will go on it. Just my two cents.

I'd say 10 years is a good lifespan for an ice maker, they generally last much less time than the fridge itself, which will probably keep on chugging for many more years.

Are you sure there isn't just an icemaker kit you could buy? That's how most brands sell them, they're designed to be replaced easily by the end user multiple times over the lifespan of the refrigerator. Posting your model number here will allow us to help you with your research.
