Glass cooktop popped loose?

Posted by brede (My Page) on

We have a KitchenAid stove with a glass cooktop. The back right corner has suddenly popped up, like the seal has given out or something. The burners still work, but the cooktop is definitely not flat and sealed like it was.

Has anyone had this happen before? We're wondering if it can be repaired, or if the entire cooking surface has to be replaced. This stove is only about two years old, so I'm annoyed! :-/

Glass doesn't change shape and "pop up". I'd suspect that you have counter issues. Either moisture damage to a laminate counter where that corner subsided, or your floor or cabinets have settled and the stone has shifted or come loose.

Get a 4' level and figure out exactly what the problem is.

In my experience they are not glued down very well. It's not a huge worry as it's just a piece of glass. What does the mfg. recommend?
