36" Rangetop - New Build

Hi, first post here on GW although I've spent hours reading great posts and responses. Thanks to all for this awesome resource.

My wife and I are building a hew home. We've narrowed down most of our appliance choices but the rangetop and oven are still open issues (I'll save the oven question for another post).

Regarding the Rangetop, we've narrowed our search to a Wolf 36" 6-burner and a Viking 36" 6-burner. From my GW research, I know there are lots of Wolf fans and also know there are lots of negative Viking comments. Lots of those negative comments were directed to ovens, DF ranges and refrigerators, which leads me to my question. I really like the look of the Viking and I can get one for $1000 less than the Wolf and also save almost $700 on the vent. In your opinion, does the Viking rangetops receive the same negative comments here on GW as the other Viking products? Should I just bite the bullet and go Wolf?

Any help, advice or comments would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
RLSinOP

RE: 36" Rangetop - New Build

I am not a big fan of Viking ranges, I have the DF with a number of issues, but can tell you that my Viking hood has worked trouble free forever. I think most of the negative comments about the Viking are about the oven, and as long as you are happy with the layout and power of the burners, I doubt the Viking stove top would have many problems.
