About a year ago we were looking for a new range and landed on this forum. That resulted in an excellent purchase (BlueStar).

We are now thinking our fridge and chest freezer of 20+ years might be ready for retirement. In the case of failure our fall bounty could be lost before replacements are delivered and installed (rural area). We want, at least, to be aware of the most suitable equipment so we can skip to the purchase when required. Our search is leading us back to the start every time. There isn't a large selection that can be knowledgeably-serviced locally so the choices end up like an election; the least undesirable wins.

We like neat - no ice, no water - just dependability and serviceability. Can anyone make a recommendation for replacements that meet the simply-works-well-for-a-long-time criteria?
