I asked the same question a while back on behalf of my sister who was thinking about buying that Viking french door. I believe the Gardenweb consensus was stay away. Against my advice she ordered anyway. It's not installed yet, but I'll post back here with feedback when it is.

Middleby just laid off a ton of Viking employees, and a Viking dealer near me dropped the brand due to EVEN MORE quality issues that popped up after the company was bought.

There are so many more proven, better reviewed products out there. Have you looked at the Bosch and Gaggenau side swing ovens?

I don't have any personal experience with Viking, but if you are looking for a French Door wall oven, there is Bluestar (gas only I believe) and American Range (that offers gas or electric). Also GE Monogram will have a new model (electric) reportable available Feb 2015 that you might look into if you don't need it right away. I saw the Monogram one recently while I was on a business trip and it looked nice.

And as stated by hvtech42, the side door ovens of Gaggeneau and the recently side opening Bosch ovens might work as well.

If you still want to consider the Viking, I would check into whether you have service available in your area and talk to that service company for their recent feedback to ask about the recent performance. But their reported recent and decling service is rather daunting and there have been quite a few GW posters with tales of woe and to caution others. Such a shame for this previous kitchen icon of past years. I have a work friend that has an older Viking 48 range that she loves and has never had a problem and continues to be her kitchen workhorse.
