Faber vent fans and installation height

Hello! I'm designing a kitchen for a new-construction house, and I'm trying to narrow down all my appliance choices. I'm 98% sure that I want a 36" Viking gas cooktop. For a fan above it (wall-mounted, no cabinetry nearby), I'm looking at 2 Faber models:

- Faber Cylindra Wall Range Hood (15" round, approx $1660)
- Faber Tender 36 (36" wide but curved at the front, approx $870)

Both are 600 CFM, and 5 - 6.5 sones. Can anyone share their experiences with Faber hoods?

Also, the Cylindra fan is recommended to be installed 24" over the cooktop, which sounds a bit low but the cylinder is pretty narrow so I think it might be OK. The Tender hood says to install it 24-30" over the cooktop. The issue is that Viking recommends 36" minimum distance between their cooktop and a vent hood. Would it be dangerous to install a hood at 30" over a Viking cooktop? Should I look for a more-powerful fan and stick with 36" distance above the cooktop?

A 24" round hood over a 36" Viking cooktop? You don't cook at all? That's the only situation where something like that will ever work. It has no capture area. It's for looks only. And Viking? The worst possible brand that has a very uncertain future?

The Tender has better capture area, but it's not large enough. You need at least a 42" hood above a 36" cooktop. Cooking products spread upwards in a V shape, and to capture all of that crud and exhaust it, the hood needs to be larger and deeper than what it covers.

You REALLY need to take a couple of days and read every thread on this forum about venting and Viking.
