In the US code does not require a dedicated circuit for refrigerators, but it is recommended.

Ok, great! I have one for the full refrigerator but did not want to bother with the under counter one as it is not at all powerful. TX!

You should note, however, that many manufacturers of uc fridges specify a dedicated outlet in their installation manuals. Assuming the fridge is being installed as part of a permitted renovation, many inspectors will refuse to pass any installation that does not comply with the manufacturer's install instructions - so I'd recommend double checking before making any commitment.

No, the manual did not say anything about the outlet being dedicated, so I guess I am good. Thank you!

Just don't use a GFI. If it trips, the fridge will lose power.

That's a good point, plllog. If that outlet is part of the general use kitchen outlet circuit, it probably does terminate with a GFCI breaker switch.

....and that is against code (not sure whether NEC or just local). I was dinged on that by an inspector.

OK, this brings a new question: Should I plug it into the receptacle that is specifically designated for DW/GD, according to the breaker panel?
