Oven / Appliance Selection for new house

WE are down to the point where we need to select appliance for a house we are building in Grand Junction, CO. Trying to decide on using a range or rangetop..probably Bluestar or Wolf. That leaves us trying to decide what to do on ovens. We are leaning to installing a Wolf Steam oven and the reviews all seem very positive. If we go with a range that will be our only 2nd oven. However, if we switch to a rangetop we are undecided on what to use as a 30" oven in conjunction with the Wolf Steam Oven. I have read almost all of the oven and gas range related reviews on GW but still looking for input on ovens.

Second dilemma is going with a Bluestar range with a gas oven. Never had any experience with gas ovens. My wife prefers an oven with self cleaning feature but I see a lot of problems that seem to be induced from using self clean. How hard are the Bluestar ovens to clean ?

I have a Blue Star range. One of the things that drew me to this appliance (that I would marry if I could!) is that it is completely mechanical and that there is no self-clean. I have had two self-cleaning ranges before and I am done with that. The heat, the smell and the damage to adjacent cabinetry--no thanks.

It's going on two years and I have yet to clean the oven, maybe because.I use my speed oven more than the range oven. The range is 36" and the oven is huge, so a smaller oven for every day makes more sense for me. I do try to wipe up spills when the oven is still warm.

Still, at some point it will be time to clean the oven. I can't imagine that is is any easier or harder to clean than any other oven that needs to be manually cleaned. There are lots of oven cleaner "recipes" online that are meant to replace commercial oven cleaners. I have no idea how well they work, though.
