Chantal teakettle repair...whistle fell off!

Hi....

I have a beautiful 10 year old Chantal whistling teakettle like this

Still works well and looks great. Problem is that I dropped it and the Hohner whistle plate (pic attached) fell off.

Any suggestions on a way to reattach it to the lid? I tried to take it to a small appliance repair shop, and they said because it's metal, they can't repair it. I hate to throw it out, given that it seems that the the new kettles are not the same quality as the older ones....and I'm not sure I want superglue so near boiling water every day!

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
