I'm with you on the Cabrio Susansyl. I hate mine! Clothes and sheets all tangle and bunch up. I have a clear top and can see the water level used. There's no way enough water is used when the clothes are barely soaking. The last time I looked, I thought agitator ones are no longer available.

Speed Queen has agitator machines, also a few Whirlpool,Kenmore,Maytag models and Fisher/Paykel if I'm not wrong there.

SQ Has really gotten popular. More old school--no electronics at all.

I would say get one of the current Speed Queen tl washers soon; while they are still available. New electronically controlled models will be coming out for 2015 from what I understand.

Last week I was shopping at "discount" hardware store and to my amazement they had old brands that I never knew existed really cheap. I believe one was an Amana top loader that looked exactly like my 1992 Whirlpool except for the top of the agitator and the fact that all washes had only cold rinses. It was about $295!!! If my washer was out I would gamble on one of those rather than get the latest fad stuff put out by Whirlpool. It looks like they still make some the old fashioned way. Someone here who is knowledgeable in appliances may know.

Amana is a Whirlpool laundry brand now, came along with their purchase of Maytag in 2006.ÃÂ Also Admiral.

I just replaced my Maytag Bravos top loader (4.7 cu ft) with the LG WT5680HWA, also a top loader. My Maytag was 6 y/o with cracked bearings.
The LG has a "Water Plus" option. Using this option, the water level is significantly higher than in the Bravos. I've only had it a week so I can't give a detailed review, but I do like the extra water & clothes are clean.
