If its a defrost timer you can try this. Around 9pm turn the dial until you hear a loud click. It is now in defrost. It's most likely a 12 hour timer so this should keep it from turning on in the middle of the day

Turn slowly. There's a 2nd click very shortly after the first when the defrost period ends. If you pass the first click and trigger the 2nd, crank it back around for another try.
