BlueStar cooktop won't fit --- Please help!

I wanted the 30" Bluestar cooktop to replace my old Caloric cooktop in our remodel. I have just learnt that the 5" clearance in depth won't be able to happen due to the two drawers under the cooktop counter which I don't want to eliminate. I only have 3 5/8 clearance. Please suggest what good alternatives are now. I really wanted the open burner but BlueStar was my only option for that.

Two thoughts.
This first idea probably isn't going to look great and it may not be within code but here goes.
Depending on what your counters are made of you might want to build up the countertop by 1 1/2" under the cooktop in order to elevate it.
In other words make a 1 1/2" curb to support the cooktop.
A better idea would be to reduce the height of the drawer under the cooktop by 1 1/2" so that the unit can sit directly on the counter.
In this case the drawer front can remain at it's present height.
Only the height of the drawer box will change.

I think Will's second idea is what would be done in new construction. Drawers will be less useful, but better than deeper drawers and an old Caloric!
