What Hood Vent for a 30 inch Blue Star

| We're trying to figure out which hood vent to install for use with a RNB 30" Blue Star we are getting. At first I thought I'd just get the Blue Star vent. But then I started looking at / hearing about/ learning about other brands (eg. Vent a hood).... The one thing I know is we will get a 36" vent so it extends 3inches on each side of the Blue Star. If anyone who has a 30 Inch BS can share what vent they use and their experience / suggestions.... I'd like to hear about it.
Thanks. |

| I installed a Prestige Proline 30" 1 week ago and so far so good. My vent run is about 2 1/2 feet. It pulls the heat and the smoke out with ease using the 600cfm fan. So far we love the oven and the hood. I purchased the Prestige over Vent a Hood because the stainless grids look easier to maintain over the Vent a Hood box. Only time will tell. The Prestige has a variable speed fan with Halogen lights that light up the full cooktop. Build quality is excellent. Hope this helps! |

| My friend put in a prestige for his 30" bluestar and has only great things to say about its performance (the hood, well, and the range) Query...who makes blue star's rangehood? |

| I am looking to buy a 30' RNB from Bluestar. Why do you need the hood to extend three inches on each side of the BS? Is this a requirement? |

| I have the 36" Prestige for my 30" BlueStar. Love both. The Prestige is a dream machine that matches the power of the BlueStar burners. It's better to get the 36" for the 30" because of the capture area. I believe Prestige makes the BlueStar hoods. BTW, for disclosure, I am heide08's friend. |

| Yoyopa, thanks for the reply. So when you ordered your range did you order a Blue Star hood... or did you order a Prestige hood. I'm asking because you thought Prestige made the Blue Star Hood.... |

| Bluestar makes their own hood and the Prestige hood |

| Is there a difference between a hood ordered under the Blue Star Branding and one ordered under Prestige.... are they basically the same hood? |

| I believe the big difference is you can get the Bluestar hood in the Bluestar colors. The Prestige branded one is only available in SS. I love my Prestige hood--I splurged on the wall switches too. I was afraid I wouldn't be easily able to reach the hood-mounted switches (I'm 5' 2") but turns out I could. The real issue is it's actually hot up there with the front 22K burner running full blast. It's only like $100 more, and maybe more from the contractor to do it. |

| I have a 36" range with a 42" Ventahood. We love the hood. You can have it on high and it is still very quiet. They also made the hood to match the color of the Bluestar range exactly. |

| tube, You've done it now! You said Vent-a-Hood in the same post as the word "quiet". :) I too have a VaH and it performs well in my kitchen. With regard to the overhang... it's a bit less important if you've got a wall mounted vent with surrounding cabinets. There's a natural confined air space to give the hood more capture without the overhang extension. I've got an island hood which does benefit greatly from a slightly oversized hood. |

Trevor, Is the only difference between the bluestar hood and the prestige hood the color options? I figured I would get prestige but if they are the same I could get a color! |

| The units are the same, but remember the up-charge to paint a Bluestar hood |
