My wife and I have a nearly new 36" self clean CC range. For the most part, we love it. We seem to have the "rogue oven latch" problem that's been reported here off and on. I'm a little surprised it's still around, but so be it.

My question is this: Is there a definitive diagnosis and fix for this problem? Is it the latch itself? A sensor? A control board?

FWIW, ours has (so far) only latched in use, sometimes with the latch light on (I think; things get confusing once we start messing with it to try to free it) but usually with it off. As others have reported, it seems to help to flip it briefly into Clean, then out again.
