Kenmore refrigerator - finding out who makes them?

I spent a bit of time today on this as I am now interested in a single door, bottom freezer and looked at Kenmore Elite 24 cu. ft. Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator (Model # 79043). Unfortunately, that is not the real manufacturer's model #.

No problem: You can find out who made the model you are interested in. First, look at the owner's manual via pdf file at Sears web site, or tag on an actual refrigerator, for whatever model interests you and find the manufacturer's prefix model # in the .pdf (ex. for my search, pdf shows Models: 795.7802* 795.7804* 795.7902* 795.7904*), ex.) then cross reference that prefix (795) against this link:

In my case, LG Electronics makes the Kenmore Elite I am interested in.

Of course, you could chat with someone on the site, but this is tedious as they will not send you a list, you must do it one by one.

btw, does anyone have any idea whether LG makes good single door bottom freezer refrigerator's? :-) which, of course, is what I want to really know !

For those considering Samsung refrigerators, please reconsider. I have one that has stop working twice in less than 3 years, the inside cooling unit freezes and stop cooling (expensive repair).

There are a few of the Samsung model that are or were part of a class action suit.

Consumer reports has had good things to say about LG, in fact I went to the store looking for them (I think I'm falling for a Samsung, however).

bobelicious, did you find the fridge you were looking for? (I'm shopping for the same style unit: single door fridge, bottom drawer freezer, std depth, 36" w.) Curious what you decided on.

Sorry, no. Kitchen remodel has been put on hold for awhile so have not looked for a couple of months. Good luck to you. I would love to hear what you wind up with. I will post again when I revisit the kitchen.

The only new refrigerators to buy is Whirlpool. I thought GE was a good brand but I have a three year old GE Profile refrigerator that has been garbage from the day I bought it. They would never fix it while it was under warranty. Since GE sold out to a foreign company, they are terrible. So stay away from GE. I had the expensive one with freezer in bottom and two ice makers. I am throwing it out of my house. I just purchased the Whirlpool with the freezer in the bottom with two ice makers. The LG and Samsung refrigerators are hard to get serviced. No one seems to want to service them. The best washing machines to purchase is Speed Queen. If I need one, it is what I will be buying.

I bought a kenmore elite refrigerator March 2018. It stopped getting cool by January 2021. It has a diagnostic tool they no longer use and instead want to charge you. Can't speak to a live person. I do not recommend this product. Ken- no-more is what I say. Sears, the name you can't

Call an independent servicer. They can't honor a Sears/Kenmore warranty but should/may be able to work on the unit ... unless they otherwise just won't do it.

All Kenmore appliances are sourced from other brand-makers, Sears doesn't itself manufacture anything. The first digits (usually three) before the period in the model number (syntax of xxx.xxxxxxxxx) is a code for the source manufacturer. Translations can be found online by searching "kenmore manufacture codes" if you want to know what brand is it under-the-skin.
