My newly installed Blue Star is hot and noisy

My new Blue Star was just installed. I did the burn off and was amazed at how hot the sides of the oven get and that it is zero clearance. I never had cabinets on the sides of my range and now I do. Do they typically get that hot? The oven dial was hot also. My vent is not hooked up yet but I doubt that would cool the sides. Also, the oven burners are quite noisy. Sounds like a jet or hot air balloon. And, there are some popping noises which the manual states as normal. Other than this, the range is gorgeous. I love the burners. Is all of this typical? I guess if your stove went in between cabinets and you were not able to touch the sides, you would not know how hot they get...Thanks for any feedback.

We have the 48 inch and the cabinet gets somewhere between warm and hot, including the door. You get used to it. Noise? We heard the gas flowing but after awhile, you do not notice. These are larger burners than the usual department store range and hotter so I reckon there are more ports and correspondingly more noise. On thing you may notice is in using the oven, you may hear a popping sound once when it is heating up and once after you shut down. I believe this is the sheet metal pan over the burner expanding and contracting. If you have not had it serviced and adjusted for the White Glove Service, you need to look into that. Also, EUROSTOVES has a series of videos on the BS operation conducted by Trevor Lawson and are well worth watching. If you do have safety concerns, contact BS or your authorized warranty center. Good luck.

As I posted elsewhere, I am about to buy a 36 inch range but am getting scared of the thing. I always have kids running around my kitchen -=- three of my own and half the neighborhood. How hot does it get?

just used mine. had the oven at 400 and put my hand on the door. it was hot, but i wouldn't say i pulled my hand away and it was hurting or anything. can you go to a showroom that has a working range and have them turn it on for you?

I live in NJ and went to Renos in Fairfield, which does not have one running. They do in Paterson store so I may check that out. between that and the reliability factor I have some concerns.

Obviously most people don't expect to burn themselves on an oven exterior. In another thread, owners measured the temps on the exterior of their BS ranges. Some got pretty hot.
Here is a link that might be useful: Bluestar Exterior Temp Thread

I did use one in a test kitchen. It got quite warm, but in my opinion, not hot enough to cause safety concerns. The test kitchen one did pop once, but I did not notice any significant noise from the burners.

Speaking of the 36" Bluestar, a guy I know has closed up his appliance shop and is liquidating inventory. How does $2,000 sound for a floor model (36" Bluestar no back gaurd)? On the other hand, a Thermadore 36" all gas with griddle can be had for $3,500. How do these prices sound? Floor models of course.

The island trim or low back are about $250 (it may already have the island trim). The BlueStar is a deal and a half. The Thermador is a deal, but not one that I'd cry for days about missing.

If its a RSC you are saving $1000 if its an RNB your saving is $1900. you can also check to see how old it is by looking at the serial number, it starts with the year then month it was made....0910*** Remember you only get a 3 month warranty on a shop floor display ranges, also it should be noted that if the dealer is not an authorized Blustar you will not have any warranty at all. If its the RNB you will not be entitled to the free white glove install. On the face of it its a good deal, provided you take note of the above.
