My son will soon switch over to gas in his house and he asked if I wanted his clothes dryer and fairly new water heater as they are both electric.

My question is this ... my present dryer is about 10 years old and as for a water heater the only thing I have now is a coil built into my oil fired furnace. His water heater is about 2-3 yrs old and its a hybrid unit and his clothes dryer is about 4 years old.

Does it make sense for me to add the water heater and also swap out the clothes dryer ?? I'm thinking yes for sure on the water heater ... but aren't all clothes dryer the same I mean in energy use ??? This is where I could use your help ( on both items please ).
