Trouble installing Kobe Range Hood RA02

Hi guys. I got the Kobe RA02 with the optional 24 inch duct cover. My contractor and I are having trouble figuring out how to attach the 24in duct cover.

The standard 12 inch cover just slips over a bracket on the hood. But with the 24" this bracket stops it from installing since the 24" one has a lip.

Has anyone installed the RA02 with the 24" duct cover? How did you attach the cover to the hold? The instructions for the hood make no mention of how to do this.
