buying from amazon?

I've narrowed my 30" all gas range purchase down to two choices. The Bosch 800 or the GE Cafe. I prefer the looks of the Cafe, but the Bosch is sharp, and it is the value leader. I bake a lot, so a good oven is crucial. I think the cooktops on either range will serve my needs fine. I'm leaning towards the Cafe, and the best price I'm finding for the Cafe through evVive via Amazon. I'm a bit anxious about buying a major appliance from an "unknown" source. Your advice/experience is appreciated. I'm particularly interested in Bosch experiences. I can't find a lot of reviews online. Thanks.

Myself , I would pay a few extra dollars and buy from a local merchant~~~~that way if you do have a problem, you are most likely going to have an "easier path" to settle any post sales problems with a local store.

Do be sure to check out a "local store", in the same manner, that I recommended for Amazon.

Amazon can be great, depending on the seller.

I wanted a special Pioneer DVD player for my 59 Dodge, and it was a discontinued model.
A buyer on Amazon had the Pioneer.
The seller "checked out", (Using the criteria) I'm suggesting that you do.

Before I ordered it, I sent an email (*thru Amazon) to the seller.
He responded immediately, and answered my question, so I ordered it.
I Received the package, promptly in great shape and the DVD player works great!!!!

Ordering something that Amazon sells directly or is fulfilled by Amazon is great - easy returns if necessary - although I haven't bought large appliances. Buying from a 3rd party can be a mixed bag - different return policies particularly the cost of return shipping, etc. As Gary said - do your homework. Buying through Amazon may give you a little more protection than buying directly from the vendor.

Hi ~ we have done both - buying through Amazon directly as well as by one of their vendors. We have never had a problem. I have ordered items as high as $500 from them.
Yesterday I placed an order for a Kraus undermount sink directly from Amazon. I chose the free standard shipping because I don't need it for another month.
This morning I received an email saying that it will be delivered tomorrow.Only 2 days from ordering. I think that is excellent!

Love ordering from amazon! Have been ordering from them when they only sold books! They stand behind their orders. They do have a time limit on returns and re-stock fees now which they didn't have before.
