What is the consensus on Jenn-Air built-ins? I just got an amazing deal on one and I hope I bought well.

RE: Jenn-Air built in fridges

They are still rated #1 for reliability (and have been since 2006), by respondents to Consumer Reports Surveys.

I've had one since 2006 and trouble free except I had to replace the ice maker after about 5 years. Cost me $135 for the icemaker, (readily available on the internet), and it took me 10 minutes to replace it.

I have never been able to hear mine run, in the 6 years I've had it, although I have seen post about the newer Jenn-airs where poster said they could hear theirs.

They did take a lot of the nice features out of the newer ones, like the crank up/down shelves, (both in freezer and fridge), and I'm not sure you can set 3 different temps in the fridge compartment as I can with mine.

Mine was made before Jenn-air was bought by Maytag, who was then bought by Whirlpool, so mine "appears" to be a bit more "Deluxe", than the newest ones, at least according to post I've read here in Gardenweb.

But again, I know of no current fridge, that has the features that mine does, I hope it last "Forever".

Good luck with yours!!

Gary
