That KA is 28 15/16" deep without handles.

Frigidaire FFSC2323LE is 26 7/8" without handles.

That is 2 1/16" difference.

Deeageaux -- thank you so much for your reply! I'm going to take a closer look at the Frigidaire vs the KA -- apparently, with handle, there's a .5 inch difference, so there must be something interesting going on with the handles!

I was at once led to believe that Viking purchased the original Amana factories (my mom has an Amana that's about 15 years old, and isn't even the same sport as the current models), and it was great to read about the Whirlpool factories.

The reason I brought up Viking is that it's how I got to the KA: I had the opportunity to buy a discontinued Viking side by side (Viking Professional Stainless Steel 36" Model: VCSF136DSS), but I was assured that the KA was identical to this Viking except for the door...
