Seen this problem in the Samsung FD with one ice maker, dispenser. Had 3 customer that would get 70 % cubed and 30 % crushed when they wanted cube. Design flaw were told and there is nothing that can be done. Hopefully it is a different issue for you. Good luck because Samsung is a bear to deal with! Imagine that you spend over $2000 for a refrigerator and you can't get 100 % cube ice !!!! I know with a counter depth you probably spent more.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you may be misinterpreting the issue. I have no issue with the upper ice or its dispenser. When I want cubes I get cubes, when I want crushed I get crushed. Not perfect, but no worse than I've come to expect in my lifetime.

My problem is the freezer ice maker - it delivers broken/crushed ice into the storage bin. Lots of what's not broken almost looks like weeks old partially evaporated ice. Being as it did work just fine until recently, I suspect there's a problem that's developed, not just an overall design flaw. Unless of course the design flaw is that it stops working well after 10 months!

Food, my Amana had started doing that. I found out the freezer was cooling down to minus degrees. Raised temp slightly and no more problems. I don't know if the ice was getting more "brittle" due to temp or what.

No I understood your problem I was just bringing up a problem with Samsung ice makers even though it was a dispenser model that you do not have. Your ice maker is different yes but the problem may be similar.

That could possibly be not enough water getting to the ice maker, Do you have a inline filter? Hard water?
I had a similar experience with an LG FD no dispenser eventually it stop making ice because the valve that lets water into the ice maker was bad from rust/calcium deposits.

FWIW, I tend to order fridges without icemakers...

They are the weak link in a fridge/freezer of any make/model
