Induction stovetop - cloudy burner

I cooked something (a sandwich I think), took it out of the pan and left the burner on with the empty pan on it. Did not notice until 15 minutes later -- pan and burner were super hot!

Anyhow, now that burner has a "cloudy" look to it. I have tried using the cooktop cleaner on it and it made no difference. You only notice the cloudiness when the overhead light is on, but it bothers me.

Any suggestions? It is almost like the cloudiness is underneath, not on top -- of the burner.

PS: This is a Kenmore induction slide-in, four years old -- under extended warranty (not sure if warranty covers my stupidity though).
