Would you buy a discontinued range? And another question...

And, if so, would you ask for a discount?

The electrolux icon professional currently only goes up to 36 inches and we were quoted @ $4,700 for the dual fuel model. I saw in the catalog a 48 inch offered, but it has been discontinued. I would love the convenience of two ovens and I have found a 48 inch online at Karl's Appliance (NJ based). I could have it shipped free, tax free for $8,000. Thoughts?

I would, and did, buy a discontinued range with no regrets. I got a good discount, but it was a floor model. I would definately ask for a discount as they may be eager to make a deal.

All models from all mnufacturers will one day be discontinued. For that matter, you could buy a current model today and it could be discontinued tomorrow. Buying a model that has been recently discontinued shouldn't be a problem if it has the features you want and it is covered by the full manufacturer's warranty..

If you want it, hurry up! I wanted an Electrolux slide in range in white that was discontinued just a couple weeks ago. Not a single one available in the entire USA!!
