New smooth top stove

I'm looking to buy a new smooth top stove. Presently I own a coil top stove but have been unable to find a new one that is good quality. I've never bought a smooth top stove does anyone have any suggestions as what to buy or what to stay away from?

Dunno ... I just bought an LG double oven smooth top but it's still wrapped in plastic.

I liked my GE smoothtop slide in I had before I upgraded to induction. However, I am not a big fan of the smoothtop format in general. If it isn't in your budget to upgrade to induction, I would stick to coil top as it is more responsive.

However, if you're sure you want smoothtop, a good trick to know that I didn't discover I'd owned one for a while is that setting the burner control to 8-9 instead of full power will boil water faster.
