I know the feeling. We bought a house with a vintage 70's GE DW that leaked from day one. For ten years it served as our drying rack and temporary dish storage. At least the space wasn't totally wasted. We finally replaced it with a new kitchen.

Wow, Good to hear I'm not the only one that uses my dishwasher that way. It never worked that great from day one.

I went to look at new dishwashers and the sales person thought I was crazy because I wanted to know which dishwasher was best at drying the dishes.

The amazing thing is I can remember many many times we would wash the dishes and not put them into the dishwasher.

It is such an obvious thing to do and it works so well.
