GE's new French-door oven

French door refrigerators have taken over much of the market; now it appears the same may happen with ovens and stoves. There've been a few of these from high-end manufacturers recently, but this is the first from a mainstream brand in quite awhile. Opening or closing one door causes the other to open too. Like many things nowadays it comes with an app, which allows remote control or status monitoring from your Apple or Android mobile device. The controls are simple knobs and buttons, the racks glide out, and the oven interior is lit by LED "theater lighting" on both sides of all racks..

French doors make it much easier to insert or remove food compared to the usual drop-down door, but so do the side-opening doors (as on some Bosch and Gaggenau ovens), and those don't bisect your view into the oven. So aside from protruding less into the kitchen when open, what is the advantage of French doors over a single side-swing door?
