For refrigerators, sometimes the depth measurement includes the doors. Sometimes it does not.

Yes, I would say you need to really look at the measurements in the documents you are looking at and determine exactly how those measurements were done. Don't assume that you just do it from what you consider the front to what you consider the back, the manufacturer might think those places are different than you.

All appliances should be on hand before the kitchen is installed in case this happens. Manufacturers always reserve the right to make changes that are outside current model's specs. It's in the fine print. And if you've ever been burned by that, you won't make that mistake.

I've run into the same thing while shopping for kitchen hoods. I have a 42" cooktop setup so I've been told I need a 48" hood.

Since the cooktops are Miele, I considered a 48" Miele hood, but there was only 1 design available and I can't say I was a fan of it. (Haha, get it? Fan? Hood? Anyway...). Fortunately, I found another design from a different company that's also made in Europe, but looks a lot more interesting.

As it turns out, what they call 48" hoods are actually 120 centimeters wide - which is actually 47 1/4"! Good thing they told me, since it affected my backsplash decision. Now that there would be some visible space between the hood walls and the cabinet walls, I'd rather do the same tile color all the way up, not a split design below and above the hood. The devil is in the details!

Sharp had the measurements wrong on their microwave drawer for years. Even customer support them wrong (previous model or just wrong drawing). I measured one in the store before having my cabinets built.
