We are remodeling our kitchen and going through the tedious phase of picking out appliances -- we like the look of the Bosch refrigerators 800 series -- I know they make good dishwashers -- anyone have good or bad experiences with a Bosch refrigerator -- we want a side-by-side -- we know the Bosch is small only 20 cu feet -- we are also looking at the GE cafe but it does not have hidden hinges -- we also just found Electrolux pro series -- we like the look, but the reviews we read weren't great -- any advice would be appreciated -- we need counter depth and prefer to stay below $3K -- Thanks

The Bosch 800 series have gotten terrible reviews. I would advise to stay away. I believe Consumer Reports (I know, I know, but still), listed the Evolution series DEAD LAST. I would also avoid GE Cafe and Electrolux. Unfortunately, unless you are willing to up the budget a bit, you're probably best off with a KitchenAid (made by Whirlpool).

I am very pleased with my Bosch 500 series side-by-side. I don't know how it differs from the 800 series other than a temp control on the meat drawer, but I've had no issues with the fridge or the ice/water maker. Counter-depth SxS freezers are shallow AND narrow, so be sure your food will fit. We never freeze turkeys or pizzas, so it isn't an problem.

Sorry to be posting so late -- you've surely picked out your refrigerator by now. We've had the new Bosch linea sxs (800 series) for three months now and love it! It is virtually silent and keeps our food fresher longer than any refrigerator we've ever had. It seems very well made and designed and it is also gorgeous! Our only problem is that the water flows very slowly from the dispenser. We got it at Sears for about $2,000 after rebates and discounts. It may not be large enough for a big family. But for how we shop and our family of 3 to 4 eats, it is perfect.
