The Hard Reset

A few months ago I called a repairman to look at my fairly new Bosch gas range when I was unable to make the oven start. The day before he was to arrive, I decided to pull the range out from the wall and clean behind. In doing so, I unplugged the stove, then later plugged it back in and moved the stove back into position. When the repairman arrived, he tried the oven and it worked fine. He asked if we'd unplugged it, and I said yes, that I didn't want to him to see all the dirt behind my stove, so I had done that. He said I'd performed what he called a "hard reset." Since then, I've done the same thing on another stove in a rental, and the garage door opener, and my washing machine. Unplug, wait at least 10 minutes, plug back in.

Perhaps everyone else on this forum knows this technique, but if reading this saves one person a few bucks, it was worth typing it here.
