Avoid Frigidaire Kitchen Appliances

We share our honest, surprisingly disappointing experiences of having purchased five Frigidaire major appliances (cooktop, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave) when we recently remodeled our kitchen-both from the Professional and Gallery lines. Of the five: the refrigerator, microwave and cooktop have had major failures, needing either replacement or major repairs. We can provide all specific product numbers, but most importantly, the FPEC3085KSA cooktop shockingly created a fire and smoke hazard when it had been turned off and not in use. Our perspectives of shockingly poor quality of these appliances, based on these product failures, is a huge disappointment and has resulted in a lot of frustration, loss of reasonable use and increased costs to us beyond the purchase and installation prices. Most specifically, the fire/smoke damage issue is the worst of our experiences and has been surprisingly ignored by Electrolux/Frigidaire (as their prior Customer Service processes were very reasonable). They present as only interested in how warranty coverage is involved, not at all about how their products may create a dangerous or life-threatening situation to their customers. We are very careful with the proper use, function and upkeep of our appliances. From the sum of our experiences, we now very strongly recommend against Electrolux/Frigidaire products and identify the need for caution in the use of their products.

Huh. Sorry you've had a bad experience.

We bought & installed a couple of Frigidaire Gallery series appliances in our new home, and so far they are excellent.

Both work perfectly, are loaded with features, and look terrific.
We're hoping we don't encounter any issues down the road.

rtich- what a horrible experience! we spent some time looking seriously at the frigidaire gallery line ss gas oven. in the end we went GE and crossed our fingers. it is so hard to pick an appliance these days, for every good review there is a horror story.
thanks for the alert and hope that CS eventually makes it right.
on a similar note, there is a class action lawsuit against specific maytag/whirlpool dishwashers for setting houses on fire. maybe you can mention that in your next discussion with CS! good luck

The problem is larger than Frigidaire. A long time ago (1940 - 1980) many companies either made their own parts, or had the components built to their specifications.

I call most of these 'manufacturing companies' - shadow manufacturing companies. They simply buy (outsource) most of the components, and assemble them into the finished product. A switch / fan motor / connector could be in any number of appliances - From Sub Zero - to the lowest Walmart brand.

Another problem is China. They are capable of making quality items. What I have noticed ( dealing with Chinese manuf ) is that the initial run of an item is good - quality wise. However that quality can drift - the original manufacturer, may outsource to another, and never tell you about it. Additionally, there is a lot of corruption in China. Lastly, they're in China, not much you can do to them.

For these reasons I think it's impossible to predict the quality for a line of products. It's now just a name plate.
