Depending on the brand, a new microwave might be cheaper than trying to replace the part (especially with labor thrown in).

GE (among others) charges a lot for parts.

Have you checked the wheels on the Y thingy? Mine get gummed up and start making a noise as they drag along.

I have had it a long time but it's a shame that I would have to throw it away but anyway;

Are they hard to get apart ?

The crazy is that I haven't done anything and the noise is gone!!!
