I was looking at range ratings on Consumer Reports and I was amazed at the vast number of negative reviews by consumers (Not CR). A quick search on google turned up videos with customers complaining of ignitors that would turn on by themselves and so on. Of course that same video illustrated a range top that was filthy which made me wonder if it was due to a lot of boil overs or other spills.

I had thought the idea of the raised star burners might be a good one from a cleanup standpoint but after reading all of the negative reviews decided to take it off my list.

I am curious whether that is the general consensus here too.
