When Recall Fix Fails What Happens?

Some may remember that Viking recalled many of their refrigerators due to a faulty door hinge. Mine was one and after a length wait, the company sent someone to replace the door hinges.

The other day I found half of a plastic ring from the fridge on the floor. I thought one of the crisper glides had broken.

But the glides on the crisper seem to be in place.

It appears that the top hinge is minus a bolt and plastic ring that are present on the bottom hinge.

So it is likely that nothing much is holding the top of my very heavy duty door on the fridge currently.

I had spoken to the parts department today -- thinking it was the crisper -- and immediately notified them of the issue by email. Tomorrow morning first light I will call their service department.

I cannot imagine there isn't a mirror image bolt and washer on the top hinge (photos below). Do any of you service pros know?

For my part, the fridge is 10 and I do expect repairs. But I don't expect a recalled, repaired door to essentially fail for the second time. So this should be on them, right?

Yes it should.

It will be interesting to see how they handle it , since technically the Viking you dealt with doesn't exist anymore.

Sounds like they will stand behind it. But they no longer have their own servicer in NJ who actually fixed everything in my house.

They are using local servicers and around here, they don't service appliances they don't sell.

Went through this when they had the original recall -- very difficult to find someone to do any repairs on these.

Will be very interesting to see what happens. Meanwhile, I seem to have a dangerous fridge door situation.

Viking is standing behind the fridge door recall and will provide another repair kit. I just received a call from the servicer they called promptly.

There is a national Hinge Recall hotline for this if anyone needs it: 888-345-2650. The Hinge Recall people send you a kit with parts and the servicer comes and does the repair.

Well that's good to know doors will be fixed!

From my college "Art Appreciation Class", we learned that
"Rococo Broke the Baroque", but~~~~~~ We did not learn that She also breaks fridge doors!!!

All part of the wonderfulness of me Gary. I'm hard on that fridge door cause I actually cook. Imagine! LOL

Can you share a picture of the bottom hinge from under the door please?

@Kyle - No can do. No photo was ever taken from below -- the operative part of the hinges were visible from the inside. The photos I posted above are all I have.
