Is it set for the pile depth of the rug/carpet?

No settings for pile depth. Wish there was.

I think it is just the way they are. I have the same problem on certain pile. I got the new one that helps self propel which lasted for one or two times vacuuming but then it seemed to go back to being hard again. I took it in for a cleaning even though I had just gotten it and of course they try it on their flat pile rug and it worked great. So I think we are just screwed on higher type of pile carpet.

I called Oreck this morning and told them about my problem. They could only suggest a few things....the main one being that the belt that runs the roller brush could be stretched. I am with you SaraKat, I believe Oreck is made for short pile carpeting or smooth floors.. The Oreck Service Store here is not the most accommodating but may have to break down and take it and have the belt replaced....Other than that....guess we are screwed...Ugh! Thanks all.
