Miele slide-out range hood DA 3480

We are doing a full gut kitchen renovation. We will probably get the Wolf 30" sealed burner rangetop, and a separate Miele wall oven.

I'm considering the Miele slide-out ventilation hood for over the range (model DA 3480). I've seen it in the Miele showroom and liked it, but haven't been able to find many reviews. Does anyone have this hood, or any advice in general about how effective these kinds of slide-out under-cabinet hoods are?

I've got a very small kitchen space in Brooklyn, and we are doing henrybuilt cabinets, so I'd like to minimize how much hood is visible and would rather have a straight line of cabinets instead of breaking it up with a big freestanding hood. The range/hood will be installed on a wall and vented outside.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The hood slides out to 16 3/4". That is not deep enough to cover the front burners. The design does not have very good capture area either.

To lower how much wasted heat the hood has to vent I would go with either Wolf or Miele induction if your building/kitchen can be configured for induction.

Thanks for the feedback, which confirmed my nagging feeling this hood wouldn't be right for me. Too bad -- I really love the aesthetics. But I'm convinced now to get a 10" under cabinet hood now that is as deep as my range top.

Any feedback from the forum about Best by Broan undercabinet hoods with the SS baffle filters would be great!

I had similar goals and ended up using a Kobe low profile hood. It doesn't retract and does stick out from the upper cabinet by a couple of inches, but it still gives a very sleek appearance.

Wow, nice kitchen, and that hood looks great -- very minimal! Is the hood effective at its job? I'm not sure it would be sufficient for over the Wolf gas range, but it would be great to make something like this work...

    Thanks!

Yes, the hood works well, but it is pretty noisy, IMO. It's a 30" hood over a 30" Bosch induction cooktop. If you went wider, it would probably be even better.
My last kitchen had a Jenn-Air downdraft vent. This is a huge improvement for me.
