 o
Cleaning Range Vent-- how do you do yours?

Will start by saying I am sensitive to smells. Have routinely been putting the baffles in the dishwasher several times a week. Still noticed smell-- cooking grease. Inside the Prestige unit there is a label saying "clean frequently all grease laden surfaces as well as fans and filters."

Well! What does that mean?

We took off the round black plastic covers that fit over the blades, and washed those. Washed the internal surfaces as well as we could reach into them. Washed all around inside the box. We did everything we could short of taking down the unit, disassembling it and washing the blades. Used ammonia and kept going at it until the rags were coming away clean.

I still notice a very very faint smell -- if I am looking for it.

Have also thoroughly washed the grates, bowls, center pieces on the range.

How do you clean your vent? What do you use, how often, how thoroughly, and is it completely, totally without any smell at all?

Somehow I feel like I didn't get the memo on this. Hope some of you can enlighten me.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work! I can't help you as I still have a little ol' Broan that uses mesh filters, which I put in the dishwasher. Is your hood working properly, meaning is any grease getting to the cabinets, ceiling, etc?
