Electrolux Speed Oven MW-Popcorn?

Hello! Have my new Electrolux speed oven, great so far (although our entire kitchen remodel is still in progress so haven't used it too much yet).

Popcorn question - there are three auto settings for popcorn, for three sizes. When I set it to my size of bag, it barely pops. If i set it to larger size it also slowly pops then i have to add time, then it burns...popcorn is a MW basic! can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong??

thanks all,
malcolm

Nope, but I'll buy some Popcorn and try it in my Elux Speed oven. What brand of popcorn are you buying so we "Compare Apples to Apples"

Using the linked owner's manual as an example (which may be similar to yours):

it calls for the exclusive use of bagged popcorn,
it notes the bag must be elevated above the turntable using a bacon grill or similar item.

This would imply that the point of maximum power is at that height.

If the instructions for popping in your unit are being correctly followed, the implication is that the uwave power output from the magnetron is lacking.

Here is a link that might be useful: Popping corn in the E30SO75ESS

Popcorn?

As I recall, The MW power of the Elux Speed oven is 1100 watts--a lil more than most, but since "Popcorn" is an "Auto setting" maybe it kicks the power down to what the
"Design Engineers" thought was needed???
At any rate, soon As I hear, what kind of Popcorn, I'll try mine out.

My old Panasonics are 1100w as well. They can pop a recently purchased standard Eddy Redenbacher bag flat on turntable with full power almost 100% in 110 seconds with no burning. The bag says run for 150 seconds which is OTL. Sometimes it took even less last year but that usually indicated a higher amount of inferior product that wasn't going to pop or be edible.

Wow, thanks for the responses. I thought I told Gardenweb to notify me via email of follow ups, but I didn't get'em, that's why i'm tardy in replying.

I'm using orville redenbacker "light" popcorn, the bag is 2.9 oz. Thanks Dodge for giving that a try.

Thanks also to Laat2, I didn't see that instruction in the owners manual about putting it on a pad or bacon pan (I just used the 'automatic' setting...) - i will try that tonight.
thanks again,
malcolm

All is well in Popcorn Land! I took laat2's advice (and what the darn instruction book says!), put the bag on the bacon grill, and voila, perfectly popped.

thanks!

PS trying convection muffins right now
