Dishwasher Mold

We recently moved into a house with relatively new appliances. There is a GE Quiet 3 Dishwasher which has mold/mildew on the bottom where the door closes. Any suggestions on what the best route is to get rid of it?

RE: Dishwasher Mold

The mold or the dishwasher?

Just kidding ...

The cheapest and easiest way is to mix 3/4 cup Clorox or other Chlorine Bleach in one gallon of water and use the solution to clean off the mold. Used in this fashion, on non-porous surfaces, the bleach will kill the mold. Once you have it all clean, ensure that the dishwasher is not leaking during operation. This could occur due to a faulty fill valve or flood sensor or a damaged/deformed door seal.

Please be sure not to mix the bleach with any other household chemical unless you have a background in Chemistry and a thorough understanding of the periodic table of elements. :)

I would also suggest adding a drop or two of dish soap to that gallon of water.
