Another Danby dryer problem...

This is regarding the same Danby dryer that I asked questions about before...
The belt has broken again-no tumbling.
Now, the repairman can't get the 'Start' button to stay 'in', so it will not start.
I did email the company that took over Danby, but no response.
My neighbor is at her wits end, as our cubbyholes, where everyone has to install washer/dryers is not big-they were built irratically...some are 27 inches wide, some, like hers and mine are only 23 1/2 inches wide, so she cannot find any model that will fit...
What/why would be the cause of the Start button not wanting to stay pushed in?
